Healing Justice and Collective Care for Latinx Migrant
Communities: A Report on the Impacts of Detention and A Call for Organizing Strategies
This report, produced by the Latinx Therapists Action Network (LTAN) in
collaboration with a member of our Leadership Team, explores the emotional, spiritual, and material impacts of U.S. immigration detention on Latinx migrant communities, centering the voices of formerly detained individuals through a series of listening sessions. Drawing from a Healing Justice framework, the report highlights the long-term consequences of detention, including economic precarity, disrupted family relationships, and ongoing trauma—while uplifting the power of collective care and grassroots organizing as essential strategies for resistance and resilience. Our report offers both analysis and a call to action, urging movements, practitioners, and organizations to integrate Healing Justice into immigrant rights work as a political imperative for our times.
